Message from Chris F. Willis
Greetings!
Last spring we were awarded Best of Show in International Competition for the Society for Technical Communication for our Meijer Mission Possible: Effective Selling course. We were asked by many curious friends and colleagues if we could send a link for them to view the course. Unfortunately, we cannot share a client proprietary course, however, with approval from Meijer, we were able to put together a little tour of the course design just for you in this edition of Media 1 Focus. Learn how using a series of still photo sequences to create realistic sales scenarios made this course a winner with both STC and our friends at Meijer.
When you need to educate a more public audience about your product or service, an online commercial – or eMercial – is a good choice. Our friends at HP are happy to have us spread the word about their state of the art commercial and industrial press training facility in Barcelona. A link to that animated presentation is included in this edition.
On a more personal note, at an eLearning Guild conference a while back I had the very good fortune of being introduced to LINGOs, an organization devoted to providing shared resources for Learning for International NGOs. I was immediately drawn to the noble efforts of this group, and wanted to know more about how I could use my own experience as an eLearning practitioner to help out as a volunteer. We finally found the right match of timing and talent, and I was honored to be participating as a presenter in a meeting of representatives of LINGOs member organizations. We worked together on techniques for effective vendor selection, project planning, and management. I’m humbled by the extensive reach of LINGOs members, and can only hope that what we do together will ripple beyond this one meeting to help make a positive impact in the world.
I’m also happy to make a public announcement and invitation for you to share in my first blog effort. In Practical Creativity (www.practicalcreativity.us) I explore ways to put Robert Frost’s sage advice, about uniting one’s avocation and vocation, into practice. With a little help from my diversely talented team members, I am able to bring you all kinds of interesting stories focused on helping you open your mind to thinking more creatively, and acting on your creative ideas more effectively. I hope you find it intriguing and inspirational. And please don’t hesitate to send me a note to share your own stories of how you use your creative genius to make a positive difference in your world. | ||
