Willis, CEO, Media 1 With 2008 now under way, we at Media 1 are firm in our resolve to continue to be a source of good news for our clients, colleagues, and friends in corporate learning and performance improvement. In fact, in this edition of Focus, we show you how you can generate more of your own “good news.” How? Start by asking the right questions. In preparation for my presentation at Training 2008, I have been immersed in an intense research and study excursion into the philosophy and practice of Appreciative Inquiry, or AI. Armed with a newfound appreciation (pun intended!) of the learning research and theory supporting AI, I have also become greatly aware of the pitfalls of traditional problem solving methods. As an alternative, AI shows you how to ask team members questions to help them uncover what really works, and how you can, as an organization, do more of it. Intrigued? Read on.
